MacKerricher State Park

MacKerricher State ParkMacKerricher State Park is on the ocean front three miles north of Fort Bragg. The park includes low ocean bluffs, extensive tidepools, miles of beaches, and the Haul Road, a paved walking and biking trail from the north edge of Fort Bragg along the coast through the Park.  In September, reconstruction of the Pudding Creek Trestle is scheduled to begin.  When the trestle is completed there will be a walking and biking route from downtown Fort Bragg along the coast into the Park.

MacKerricher is open year-round and has 140 campsites, plus a Visitor Center which has many exhibits on marine mammals that live in the ocean off shore. The skeleton of a California Grey Whale is on display next to the Visitor Center.  The park is free for day use and popular for many outdoor activities, including birding, tidepooling, fishing, walking, biking, and boating on Cleone Lake.
